Many people will experience a stiff neck at least once in their lifetime as neck tendons and nerves are a delicate part of the body.
A stiff neck is typically characterized by soreness and difficulty moving the neck, especially when trying to turn the head to the side. A stiff neck may also be accompanied by a headache, neck pain, shoulder pain or arm pain, and cause the individual to turn the entire body as opposed to the neck when trying to look sideways or backwards.
Stiff neck, while not a serious medical problem, will disturb daily activates and make sleeping difficult due to the associated pain. Stiff neck is painful and makes it difficult to move the neck and is caused by injury, chronic discomfort, as part of an underlying disease, bad posture, sleeping in an awkward position, exercise straining, and even stress.
